Do you want to improve your reading skills? Do you want to join a fun and friendly class? If the answer is yes then this could be the right course for you! By the end of this course your knowledge and skills will have improved and you will be confident to: use prepositions, adverbials and connectives, use knowledge of common words to understand text and find information, use detailed reading to find specific information. If this sounds very complicated do not worry! You will work with an experienced and enthusiastic ESOL tutor and a group of your peers to develop the skills and knowledge to achieve this qualification and be in the best position to move forward with your studies. You need to be able to attend classes each week and complete homework to give you the best chance of success. You will be able to study other awards in the ESOL Skills for Life suite of qualifications on successful completion.

Do you want to improve your reading skills? Join a supportive class and work with your peers to continue your learning journey. By the end of the course your reading skills will have improved and you will be in a really good position to continue your study in ESOL, or other areas of our curriculum offer. You will need to be able to attend classes each week to complete the guided learning hours for this qualification to give you the best chance of success. You will work with an experienced and supportive ESOL tutor to gain the skills and knowledge you need to achieve the ESOL Skills for Life Award in Reading at Entry Level 3. You will be asked to complete homework and additional independent study too, this is really important to allow you to do well and achieve your potential.

ESOL Skills for Life Award in Reading at Level 2 (KEN25S038)

ESOL

Do you want to improve your reading skills? This could be the qualification for you! You will work with our highly qualified and experienced tutors, and your peers, to develop your appreciation and understanding of the written word. You will be skilfully guided to achieve success in an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is an intensive and demanding qualification; you must be able to commit to attend each class to give you the best opportunity to succeed. In addition you will receive homework each week and you must commit to complete this in a timely manner so your tutor can give you feedback on where you can make improvements to your work. This award acts as a stand alone qualification in its own right or can be studied as part of a Level 2 Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life. To achieve the full certificate you will need to also achieve an Award in Writing at level 2 and an Award in Speaking and Listening; Adult Learning can help with this!

Do you want to improve your writing skills? Join a supportive class and work with your peers to start your learning journey on the ESOL Skills for Life suite of qualifications. By the end of the course you will be more confident in: writing simple text and communicating information and ideas. You will understand the difference between a range of simple text layouts e.g. invitation, messages and envelopes. You will be able to use verbs and capital letters where appropriate in your writing. You will spell personal vocabulary and common words correctly. Do not worry if this sounds a lot and a bit daunting because you will be supported every step of the way! You will need to be able to attend classes each week to complete the guided learning hours for this qualification and to give you the best chance of success. You will develop the skills and knowledge to allow you to move forward confidently in your ESOL journey.

By the end of this course you will be better at: Writing simple sentences in paragraphs with clear structure, writing compound sentences using common conjunctions to connect two clauses, for example using as, and, but. Don`t worry if this seems complicated now because you will work with an experienced and enthusiastic ESOL tutor and your peers to develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in this qualification. You will need to attend classes each week to give you the best opportunity to succeed. You will also be asked to complete homework and independent study to maximise your chances of success. This qualification will allow you to progress to other awards at Entry level 2 in the ESOL Skills for Life suite of qualifications. Use simple present tense and simple past tense. Use simple adverbial phrases of time and place e.g. on Saturday, next week, at the bus station Use adjectives and intensifiers to add detail and interest Use capital letters, question marks and full stops in sentences.

Our Improvers level classes are excellent progression for those who have successfully completed our Beginner level language classes. We have tutors who will push you to achieve far more than you would have expected in a fun, encouraging learning environment. Please note this course is designed to be delivered over a full academic year, covering three terms. If you wish to join the course in term 2 or term 3 please contact the centre to arrange an initial assessment to check that this is the right course and level for you. We will also ask the course tutor to contact you to discuss your current level and any previous language learning you have undertaken, again to ensure that the course is appropriate and that you will have an enjoyable and high quality learning experience with the service.
