 Who we are looking for…

 We are looking for an inspirational tutor to deliver Arts and Crafts classes in sewing and textiles to our learners across Penrith and the surrounding areas. 

You will be able to:

  • Prepare and deliver creative and exciting lessons that enthuse and develop adult learners
  • Work with learners in a variety of settings across the local community
  • Work with learners will have a wide range of backgrounds and abilities
  • Have a can-do attitude and build excellent working relationships with their learners and colleagues
  • Have a flexible approach to spot and meet emerging needs in the local area so this role may include some evening work.

Would you like to support learners in various qualifications and inspire those within the local Community? Are you experiences in supporting learners with different needs in an educational environment?
We are looking to recruit a Senior Teaching Assistant on a 0.4 Fractional hours contract to support learners with specific needs. The successful candidate will be expected to assist tutors in preparing and delivering lessons for learners in a group setting to suit the needs of the learners. They will also be expected to work 1-1 with learners to support them with reviewing their progress when using new Cognitive assessment platform. They will be expected to work with adults from diverse backgrounds and be sensitive to the unique needs and challenges faced by learners.
Adult Learning, rated Good by Ofsted, delivers community learning and skills provision. The service provision consists of a wide range of Community Learning and Adult Skills programmes including - English and Maths (at all levels from Entry Level through to GCSE); ESOL; LLDD; Employability; Family Learning; Digital Skills; Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Craft.

We are looking for a tutor who is highly skilled and has real passion and expertise in LLDD, to join our Adult Learning service. We offer a wide and extensive range of subjects to LLDD learners, and the right candidate will offer interesting and engaging courses including qualifications. The successful candidate will deliver their courses in local community venues working with key LLDD partners in the area.  The ideal candidate to join our service will be positive, flexible and enthusiastic, with the ability to deliver an inspiring and engaging curriculum. Experience in a teaching environment, a teaching qualification and experience of working with LLDD are essential for the role.

Community Learning and Skills Tutor - Employability, Health and Care - WMF2801e

Hours: 0.2 (7.4 hours per week) Contract Type: Permanent, Location: Penrith Library

About this opportunity

We require a tutor to teach Employability and Health and Care/Wellbeing courses to adult learners in Penrith and the surrounding area. We offer an extensive range of courses to the communities of Penrith, and the right candidate will offer interesting and engaging provision to support the growth of the Service. The role will involve delivering accredited qualifications particularly in areas such as Mental Health Awareness, Resilience and Grit, and Employability.  The qualifications offered include a range of short Awards at Entry Level, and Certificates at Levels 1 and 2. The successful applicant will also deliver non-accredited classes to provide pathways for learners to progress to studying formal qualifications. An Assessor qualification would be an advantage, and a teaching qualification is essential (or a willingness to complete a qualification within 12 months of starting employment).

The role will require someone with the ability to adapt quickly and work flexibly to meet local and emerging needs. The candidate will be provided with curriculum support and guidance by an Advanced Practitioner.
