You will know days of the week, family words, dates and times. You will understand common prepositions. You will recognise digits 0 – 9 (used in dates, times telephone numbers and prices). You will confidently recognise the alphabet in both lower and upper case. You must be able to attend classes each week to give you the best chance for success. This qualification is ideal for learners who want to progress and improve all aspects of their English and will leave you in a very good position to study other awards at Entry 1 in the ESOL offer.

By the end of the course you will be more confident in: writing simple text and communicating information and ideas. You will understand the difference between a range of simple text layouts e.g. invitation, messages and envelopes. You will be able to use verbs and capital letters where appropriate in your writing. You will spell personal vocabulary and common words correctly. Do not worry if this sounds a lot and a bit daunting because you will be supported every step of the way! You will need to be able to attend classes each week to complete the guided learning hours for this qualification and to give you the best chance of success. You will develop the skills and knowledge to allow you to move forward confidently in your ESOL journey.
