About the course:
This course is ideal for those who are interested in gaining basic knowledge on how to use Microsoft Word. By the end of this course you will be able to create and save documents, enter and edit text, use formatting tools to modify the appearance of text, change the setup of documents including page orientation and margin settings. You will also be able to use cut, copy and paste techniques as well as create and edit a simple table all within the Microsoft Office Word application.
How will the course be delivered?
You will work directly with your tutor as part of a small group covering the course aims. Your tutor will feed back to you throughout each session on your progress.
What do I need to bring?
A Notebook and pen and glasses if you need them. You could also bring a memory stick (USB/flash drive) to save your work to if you like.
What are the entry requirements?
A familiarity with Microsoft Office would be an advantage. You may have already completed the Introduction to IT, a Beginners Computer course or have some computer experience already from either the workplace or personal use. Ideally you have Microsoft Word on your PC or laptop to be able to create the documents.
What can I do next?
On successful completion of this course you can progress onto Word for Improvers, the Nationally Accredited Qualification such as the new Essential Digital Skills Qualification or many of our other Digital Skills courses and workshops.
How well am I doing?
Your Tutor will provide you with regular feedback verbally in lessons and recorded in your Individual Progress Record (IPR) from reviews.
