Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the minimum age?

Please note that you must be aged 19 or over by the 31 August in the academic year in which your offering begins.

How do I get help with issues with enrolling?

Any issues regarding enrolling and online payments can be raised through your local centre using the contact details on the Adult Learning Centres and our Contact Us page.

Am I entitled to reduced fees?

For learners who meet our specific fee remission criteria, your fee payable will be adjusted accordingly depending on the type of offerings and whether your supporting evidence is valid. For more information, view the Adult Learning Concessions and Fees Policy.

Can I pay in instalments?

Unfortunately it is not currently possible to pay in installments, the full fee is payable at the time of enrolment.

Am I eligible for a discount if I can't attend all of the sessions?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer any discounts or refunds if you join the offering after the start date, or don't attend.

Am I eligible for a refund?

Once a offering has begun, we will only consider refund requests in exceptional personal or family circumstances. However, if the refund affects the continued viability of the offering then Adult Learning reserves the right to refuse the refund. If you need to withdraw from a offering before it begins, we will process refund requests as follows:

  • If the request is made more than eight weeks before the offering starts, a full refund will be returned
  • If the request is made less than eight weeks and more than one week before the offering starts, a full refund less a discretionary £10 cancellation fee will be returned.
  • No refunds will be made if you withdraw from an offering less than seven days before the published start date.

Am I eligible for help with childcare?

Learners who are eligible for a fee remission are automatically eligible for help with childcare costs under our policy. Please contact your local Adult Learning Centre for more information and to receive an application form.
