About the course:
Did you know that each year in the UK we throw away over 300 000 tonnes of old clothing? Let's take something destined for landfill and using basic sewing skills re purpose it into something totally unique to you. We will cover basic seams, hems, buttons and button holes and replacing zips.
How will the course be delivered?
This is a face to face course. You'll be taught by our amazing tutor Christine who has a degree in textiles and over 20 years experience in supporting people to improve their sewing skills. She has a particular interest in the social impact of textiles.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to provide your own basic sewing kit. This should include: fabric scissors, needle and thread, tape measure, pins, seam ripper and a pencil. need items from your wardrobe as the course progresses and you tutor will advise you on the types and amount of fabric required.
What are the entry requirements?
This is a beginners course so there are no entry requirements other than to be keen to recycle and keen to develop your skills with textiles.

You could move on to the next Jazz up your Wardrobe course to develop your skills still further.
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in your lessons and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any areas that you want to improve, and your tutor will support you to achieve your goals.
