About the course:
We'll further develop the skills we learned last term to look at how embroidery and surface stitching - either by hand or machine if you have one, can reinvigorate items that are past their best. You'll have the opportunity to use the re purposing and textile skills you've learnt so far to work on a project of your choice.
How will the course be delivered?
Face to face.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to provide your own basic sewing kit. This should include: fabric scissors, needle and thread, tape measure and pins. You will need to provide items to up cycle and your tutor will advise you on the types and amount of fabric required.
What are the entry requirements?
As this course finishes with a project of your choosing it would be helpful if you had completed Jazz up your Soft Furnishings for Summer 1 or already have some fabric and upholstery skills.
What can I do next?
You could move onto our Entry Level 3 Award in Skills for the Creative Industries which will start in September 2025
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in your lessons and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any areas that you want to improve, and your tutor will support you to achieve your goals.
