About the course:

This course focuses on repurposing clothing by taking them apart and reconstructing them into a new upcycled item of clothing or accessory. You bring along a few clothing items that are damaged, stained, or unloved to our pop-up studio. With tutor guidance, the potential of your clothing items to be upcycled will be explored. You will learn deconstruction approaches, along with restyling and re imagining. These small group sessions give you tutor support and guidance in developing your skill and confidence in re imagining clothing that has lost their appeal or usefulness and in doing so, divert them away from landfills and re imagine them back into your wardrobe.

How will the course be delivered?

This course will be delivered by our highly experienced textiles tutor Claire Trelfa, face to face in a pop-up studio space with tutor guidance. Teaching will use examples, demonstrations and supported hands-on experience.

A few clothing items that are damaged, stained, or unloved

What are the entry requirements?

None: this is a beginners level course

What can I do next?

You can complete a further sustainable textiles courses. You could also progress to a pattern or sewing machine course with Adult Learning.

How well am I doing?

Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the session and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve, and your tutor will support you achieve your goals. There will be ongoing reflective practice through your reimagined clothing projects.
