About the course:
This course looks at the additional challenges that older workers face when looking for work. It will help you to identify the types of work you are looking for, give you the skills to apply for jobs online and prepare you for different types of interview. You will focus on building your confidence so you can enter the workplace as a valuable older worker with the skills and behaviours that employers are crying out for.
Please note that you do not need to be over 50 to attend this course, younger learners are always welcome.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered by one of our specialist employability tutors. You will be taught in one of our centres or in our virtual classroom (via Zoom).
During the course you will complete a range of activities. These will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.
What do I need to bring?
Face-to-face
You must bring your own pen to each session. If you wear glasses don't forget to bring those too.
Online
You will need access to a computer or tablet and the internet for each session. You may want to use headphones with a microphone.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
What can I do next?
On completion of this course you can progress to many other Employability courses but you may want to consider Communication Skills for Employment, Preparing for Employment or one of our Workshops.
You may also choose to progress to an English, maths or IT course.
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
