About the course:
Have fun recycling fabric and create art as you learn the traditional art of rag rugging. You can use to make some very up to date things for your home such as cushion covers, rugs and pictures.
We will look at traditional and modern examples to get you thinking about your own designs and creating a unique one for you and transfer this onto the hessian. We will look at how to process your fabrics so you can use them in your rug to best effect and look at different techniques and the tools needed to make them and have a go at this.
Once we have your design underway, we can then look at using different stitches to add textures and look at how you will finish and edge your masterpiece.
The simplest traditional proggy rugs were made using a small wooden pointed stick in the palm of your hand, however you can also buy these tools or use a large headed crochet hook.
Reuse all your old scraps of fabric, curtains, bedding, and old clothes and recycle them into something new and beautiful!
