About the course:

In this workshop, we will explore possibilities with recycled paper and card as we create 3D forms by cutting, folding, curling, slotting, pleating, weaving, quilling and then assembling them to make art. Expect to start simple with a snowflake mobile and then create your own decoration - star, angels, or something more abstract.

How will the course be delivered?

This workshop will be delivered face to face. It will be a mixture of tutor demonstration, discussion, experimentation, seeing how others have completed similar tasks and lots of laughter and learning from each other. The tutor will give you feedback and encouragement.

What do I need to bring?

Apron, cutting mat, craft knife and sharp scissors, masking tape, stapler. Bring an assortment of recycled paper and card of different types to use in the workshop. Students will be encouraged to swap materials to widen their choice. To make a mobile, you will also need some fine wire to hang the pieces and some wire which you can bend with pliers (bring these too!) for the main arms.

What are the entry requirements?

No previous experience is necessary.

What can I do next?

Join one of the Council's other Art courses using recycled materials.

How well am I doing?

At the start of the workshop you will complete an initial assessment to give the tutor an idea of your background and motivation. We will track progress over the day is tracked in an Individual Progress Record. You will receive lots of feedback on your work and during the class with lots of opportunities for questions.
