About the course:
The aim of this course is to cover a sample of topics on the GCSE maths specification, in order to provide a realistic idea of what studying GCSE Maths in one year would involve.
The course covers the following main areas:
1. BIDMAS
2. Multiplication/Division whole numbers
3. Decimals
4. Fractions
5. Basic Algebra
6. Basic Geometry
There is approximately 2 hours of homework expected to be each week and you must attend every week.
This course is suitable for you if you are thinking about enrolling on the GCSE Maths course in the following September.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered over 15 hours over 6 weeks (one 2.5 hr session per week).
The sessions will take the form of presentations, question and answers, discussion and group and paired activities, in an informal environment. These are supported with material from recommended textbooks, work books, websites and exam practice questions.
What do I need to bring?
Calculator (tutor can advise first week of course), pen, pencils, ruler, eraser, notebook and folder
What are the entry requirements?
Completion of an initial assessment to check what level you are currently working at.
