About the course:
Over the day we will learn some basic watercolour skills and then apply them to making a unique water coloured advent or holiday countdown calendar, which you can give (or keep!) and use year on year for different events. We will explore using colour washes, different design ideas and the calendar will assemble into a 3D form as a piece is added each day.
How will the course be delivered?
This workshop will be delivered face to face. It will be a mixture of tutor demonstration, discussion, experimentation, seeing how others have completed similar tasks and lots of laughter and learning from each other. The tutor will give you feedback and encouragement.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your watercolours, brushes, water pots and palette, table cover and apron. Scissors, masking tape, craft knife and cutting mat, pencil, ruler. A4 size pad with at least 10 sheets of heavyweight watercolour paper (at least 300g/m2 MINIMUM weight of paper). The tutor will be able to loan out some limited watercolours and brushes if necessary but you need to bring your own paper. Bring along some ideas of subject matter that we can discuss too.
What are the entry requirements?
No previous experience is necessary.
What can I do next?
Try another taster workshop, such as Sculpt a Christmas Decoration, or sign up for one of our art courses!
How well am I doing?
At the start of the workshop you will complete an initial assessment to give the tutor an idea of your background and motivation. We will track progress over the day is tracked in an Individual Progress Record. You will receive lots of feedback on your work and during the class with lots of opportunities for questions.
