About the course:

This course is aimed at those who know a little more about their D-SLR camera already and want to learn some more advanced techniques. We cover; HDR
Multiplicity
Off camera flash
Low light
Star Trails
as well as general hints and tips designed to help you get more from your photography.

How will the course be delivered?

The classes will be a mix of tutor-led discussions during the week and then trying out the techniques on weekends. The Serious Amateur course is run over a period of 6 weeks (consisting of 6 Classroom sessions on a weekday evening with 5 Field trips on the weekends in between, making 11 sessions in total). The class will be taken through your own photographs along with a series of examples with explanations of techniques and theory. Learners will use their own camera equipment on the field trips – recommended are high end bridge cameras or DSLR / Mirrorless cameras.

What do I need to bring?

Recommended equipment is a tripod, some ND (Neutral Density) filters and a remote shutter release. Learners own camera equipment can be brought to the classes and is essential for field trips.

What are the entry requirements?

A course aimed at taking photographs already with an understanding of photography and going a couple of steps further with some more advanced techniques.

What can I do next?

Information, advice & guidance and specialist advice is available from tutor for further progression with (for example) local camera clubs or professional bodies.

How well am I doing?

You will be assessed on an on-going basis and encouraged to keep track of your own progress with Tutor guidance.
