About the course:
This course is for learners who can already draw well and want to refine their drawing technique further. How will the course be delivered?
In-person delivery. At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment set of exercises to work out the areas we need to focus on for each individual. Each session has a review of homework with individual feedback, followed by tutor discussion and demonstration, and then exercises set in class. Each learner chooses a topic related to the class that they research over the term and present this to the class at the end of term.
What do I need to bring?
You will need a copy of Sarah Simblet's 'The Drawing Book' and 'The Drawing Bible: An Essential Reference for the Practising Artist' Book by Marylin Scott to supplement our studies. A range of drawing pencils, erasers, fine liner pens, tracing paper, masking tape, wax crayons / oil pastels. A3 sketchbook + 2 x A1 sheets of cartridge paper. Other art materials will be required but will be discussed in class before purchases are made.
What are the entry requirements?
This is an intermediate course, so learners will have at least 2 years of drawing experience behind them.
What can I do next?
Sign up for another drawing or painting course.
How well am I doing?
At the start you will complete some exercises and we will identify the skills you need to progress on an individual learning plan. You will get regular informal feedback from your tutor during each session and you will complete a simple record of progress and diary to gauge how well you are getting on during the course. You will be able to ask questions and be given feedback on your work during each session.
