About the course:
This course is for anyone who wants to improve their painting in acrylics.
How will the course be delivered?
In-person delivery. At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment (a set of exercises) - to work out the areas we need to focus on for each individual. Each session has a review of homework with individual feedback, followed by tutor discussion and demonstration, and then exercises set in class. Each learner chooses a topic related to the class that they research over the term, and they present this to the class at the end of term.
What do I need to bring?
You will need a copy of 'Learn to paint in acrylics with 50 more small paintings by Mark Nelson' book. Table protector, a selection of acrylic painting brushes, a sketchbook, masking tape, a range of acrylic paints including the primary colours, black and white as an absolute minimum. Pencil and eraser. Selection of small 20cm canvases and boards. Acrylic medium and varnish. Other purchases will be necessary but the tutor will advise to prevent you making unnecessary purchases.
What are the entry requirements?
This is an improvers course, so learners are expected to have some experience of painting in acrylics.
What can I do next?
Sign up for term 3 Improvers painting in acrylics.
How well am I doing?
At the start, you will complete some exercises and we will identify the skills you need to progress on an individual learning plan. You will get regular informal feedback from your tutor during each session, and you will complete a simple record of progress and diary to gauge how well you are getting on during the course. You will be able to ask questions and be given feedback on your work during each session.
