About the course:

Unit 1 summary:

This unit will introduce learners to the concepts of self-harm and suicide. They will consider societal attitudes towards these, triggers, and how these may be influenced by the media.

Unit 2 summary:

This unit will enable learners to recognise signs and symptoms of self-harm in others, so they may develop an empathetic understanding of how to approach this.

Unit 3 summary:

This unit will teach learners the value of having conversations with struggling individuals, and the importance of getting family and friends involved.

Unit 4 summary:

This unit will deal with the after-effects of suicide, including helping relatives and friends process their grief and campaigns that are available for accessing support, etc.
