About the course:

The course will continue to experiment with different water-colour techniques (sea salt, cling-film, wet-in-wet, wax resist, scraping, granulation fluid etc…) and with step-by-step instructions learners will be shown how these can be used to develop textures and atmosphere in paintings. You will be introduced to a range of artists who use these techniques well. With guidance and further demonstrations, you will then use some of the techniques to create dramatic paintings.

How will the course be delivered?

Christine Stanford is a local artist with 20 years experience of exhibiting and delivering mixed media courses. This course will be delivered online using Zoom. You will need a stable internet connection on a good-sized screen and a camera or microphone.

*This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners. Learners will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking and listening). Learners will be required to turn on their camera throughout the session for safeguarding compliance. There will be a discussion and demonstration. You will have opportunities to discuss and ask questions- this is an interactive course with the Tutor present throughout.

What do I need to bring?

You will need watercolour paints, brushes, water pots, paper towels, palette and paper. Masking tape, pencils and rubbers are also useful. Your tutor will advise you on types of paint, brushes and paper once you have enrolled on the course.

What are the entry requirements?

A little knowledge of watercolour painting would be useful and a willingness to experiment.

What can I do next?

You could move onto an Intermediate Drawing course in September.

How well am I doing?

Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in your lessons and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any areas that you want to improve, and your tutor will support you to achieve your goals.
