About the course:

This 5-week course offers an introduction to the world of book illustration, guiding you through the creative process of transforming text into visual stories. You will learn techniques for character development, scene setting, and visual storytelling, using a variety of art mediums such as pencils, pens, watercolour, acrylics, and collage. You'll explore the relationship between images and text, and how illustrations can enhance and complement storytelling. By the end of the course, you will have created a range of illustrations and gained the confidence to pursue further projects in your own illustrative style.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered face to face by our amazing art tutor Amy.

What do I need to bring?

You are welcome to bring your own paintbrushes and watercolours and acrylics, although essential supplies will be provided. If you have any books or stories you are particularly interested in illustrating, please bring them as inspiration for your projects.
