About the course:
This is for beginners who have done some drawing and now want to develop their drawing skills further.
How will the course be delivered?
In-person delivery. At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment (a set of exercises) to work out the areas we need to focus on for each individual. Each session has a review of homework with individual feedback, followed by tutor discussion and demonstration, and then exercises set in class.
What do I need to bring?
You will need a copy of Betty Edwards' Drawing Workbook (textbook) plus A4 sketchpad, masking tape, 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B pencils, eraser and a kneadable eraser. Dry wipe marker (fine) and a sheet of acetate. Other items will be required but will be discussed with the tutor to avoid unnecessary purchases.
What are the entry requirements?
This is a beginners course for beginners who have already had around 30 hours drawing tuition.
What can I do next?
Sign up for the term 3 Beginners drawing class to complete your beginners year of drawing.
How well am I doing?
At the start, you will complete some exercises and we will identify the skills you need to progress on an individual learning plan. You will get regular informal feedback from your tutor during each session, and you will complete a simple record of progress and diary to gauge how well you are getting on during the course. You will be able to ask questions and be given feedback on your work during each session.
