About the course:
The Ascentis Level 1 Award in Mental Health and Wellbeing introduces you to the terms mental health and wellbeing and the different types of conditions and the support available. You will learn how mental health conditions affect individuals, their families and friends, and employers. You will also learn about ways to look after your own mental health and wellbeing and where to go for help when it is needed.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered by one of our specialist tutors.
Activities will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.
What do I need to bring?
You need to bring a pen, notebook and any other items guided by your tutor.
If your course is in our online classroom (Zoom) you will need a computer, smart phone or tablet and a good internet connection.
What are the entry requirements?
As this is a level 1 course you should have an English qualification at entry level 3 or above. This could be a GCSE or an equivalent such as a functional skills qualification.
You will also need to undertake an initial assessment to determine if this is the right level for you.
What can I do next?
You can progress onto the L2 Award in Mental Health and Wellbeing or any of the accredited or non-accredited level courses or workshops that we offer. These include other health and wellbeing courses as well as employability, digital, maths and English.
At the end of your course your tutor will discuss the options for further learning with you.
How well am I doing?
As this course progresses you will take part in discussions and complete written work and worksheets to support your learning. Your tutor will feedback to you verbally and in written comments in a supportive and constructive way helping you to see how to improve. There is a multiple choice test at the end of this course which you must pass in order to gain the qualification and your tutor will prepare you for this by practising exam techniques and questions before the test.
You will also have a Individual Progress Record (IPR) to track your progress and enable you to set personal targets.
