About the course:
This short course focuses on the importance of healthy living for a full and active life. You will focus how diet effects weight, mood and motivation, how lifestyle and activity can positively and negatively effect both physical and mental health and you will learn how to understand food labelling to support healthy eating. This course is a great way to evaluate your own lifestyle and kick-start some changes. The course is taught at two levels and your tutor will discuss which level is right for you.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered by one of our specialist tutors.
Activities will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.
There is a short multiple choice test at the end of this course which you must pass in order to achieve the Award in Healthy Living
What do I need to bring?
You need to bring a pen, notebook and any other items guided by your tutor.
If your course is in our online classroom (Zoom) you will need a computer, smart phone or tablet and a good internet connection.
What are the entry requirements?
As this is a level 1 or 2 course you should have an English qualification at entry level 3 or above. This could be a GCSE or an equivalent such as a functional skills qualification. You will also need to undertake an initial assessment to determine which the right level for you.
What can I do next?
If you want to keep learning we have a range of other courses you can progress to. These include other health and wellbeing courses e.g. Healthy Eating on a Budget or L1 /L2 Mental Health and Wellbeing, as well as employability, digital, maths and English.
At the end of your course your tutor will discuss the options for further learning with you.
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will feedback to you verbally and in written comments in a supportive and constructive way helping you to see how to improve. There is a multiple choice test at the end of this course which you must pass in order to gain the qualification and your tutor will prepare you for this by practising exam techniques and questions before the test.
You will also have a Individual Progress Record (IPR) to track your progress and enable you to set personal targets.
