About the course:

This short course focuses on the basic concepts of sustainability at a personal, local and global scale. You will learn about sustainable development, why natural resources are important and how global agriculture and industry effects us all. You will find out about the benefits of sustainable communities and consider your own role in making sustainable choices

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered by one of our specialist tutors. You will be taught in one of our centres or in our virtual classroom (via Zoom).

Activities will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.

*This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners. Learners will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking and listening). Learners will be required to turn on their camera throughout the session for safeguarding compliance. There will be a discussion and demonstration. You will have opportunities to discuss and ask questions- this is an interactive course with the Tutor present throughout.

What do I need to bring?

You need to bring a pen, notebook and any other items guided by your tutor.

If your course is in our online classroom (Zoom) you will need a computer, smart phone or tablet and a good internet connection.

What are the entry requirements?

As this is a level 2 course you should have an English qualification at entry level 3 or above. This could be a GCSE or an equivalent such as a functional skills qualification.
You will also need to undertake an initial assessment to determine if this is the right level for you.

What can I do next?

If you want to keep learning we have a range of other courses you can progress to. These include other Green courses such as L1 Preventing Plastic Pollution as well as employability, digital, maths and English.
At the end of your course your tutor will discuss the options for further learning with you.

How well am I doing?

As this course progresses you will take part in discussions and complete written work and worksheets to support your learning. Your tutor will feedback to you verbally and in written comments in a supportive and constructive way helping you to see how to improve. There is a multiple choice test at the end of this course which you must pass in order to gain the qualification and your tutor will prepare you for this by practising exam techniques and questions before the test.
You will also have a Individual Progress Record (IPR) to track your progress and enable you to set personal targets.
