About the course

This improver level course is all about finding the job opportunities that appeal to you and then submitting a strong application. You will learn how to decode job adverts and tailor your application to show how you meet the job specification. You will also learn how to best approach online assessments which are now commonplace as part of the application process. In anticipation of an interview, we will give suggestions and advice on the importance of preparation and you will have the opportunity to participate in a mock interview. Following on from this you will be given clear constructive feedback on how to improve your performance.

How the course will be delivered

The course will be delivered by one of our specialist employability tutors. During the course you will complete a range of activities. These will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.

What you'll need to bring

Face-to-face You must bring your own pen to each session. Please bring your current CV either on paper or electronically. Online You will need access to a computer or tablet and the internet for each session. You may want to use headphones with a microphone. You will be able to email your CV to the tutor before the first session.

Entry requirements

It is a good idea to have attended the Preparing for Employment course. You should have a good quality up-to-date CV.
