About the course:
This improver level course is all about finding the job opportunities that appeal to you and then submitting a strong application. You will learn how to decode job adverts and tailor your application to show how you meet the job specification. You will also learn how to best approach online assessments which are now commonplace as part of the application process. In anticipation of an interview, we will give suggestions and advice on the importance of preparation and you will have the opportunity to participate in a mock interview. Following on from this you will be given clear constructive feedback on how to improve your performance.How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered by one of our specialist employability tutors. You will be taught in one of our centres or in our virtual classroom (via Zoom). During the course you will complete a range of activities. These will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.
What do I need to bring?
Face-to-face You must bring your own pen to each session. Please bring your current CV either on paper or electronically. Online You will need access to a computer or tablet and the internet for each session. You may want to use headphones with a microphone. You will be able to email your CV to the tutor before the first session.
What are the entry requirements?
It is a good idea to have attended the Preparing for Employment course. You should have a good quality up-to-date CV.
What can I do next?
You will have a discussion with your tutor to identify the best way forward for you individually. Some of the options could be Seeking Employment, Communication Skills or one of our workshops. You may also want to consider one of our English, maths or IT courses.
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
