About the course:

You will explore the well-known children’s story, ‘The Snowman’, making resources related to the story to add to a Story Box to take home and enjoy with your young child. If story boxes are new to you, you will be supported making one through every step. A story box is a box containing a variety of resources and activities relating to a particular story, all designed to bring the story to life. In your box, you will make a felt hand puppet of the snowman as well as other resources e.g. a jigsaw and simple game, or indeed anything that could be used to retell and enjoy the story with your young child.

How will the course be delivered?

Your tutor will guide and support you through the steps of making a Story Box, which you will take home to surprise your child. This single session course is for parents/carers only.

What do I need to bring?

Resources and materials will be provided. You may like to bring in your own bits and bobs from home e.g. fabric scraps, buttons etc., including your own minisewing kit, if you have one.

What are the entry requirements?

This course is for parents and carers of children aged between 3 and 5. You do not need any prior qualifications but you will need to be able to speak and understand basic English. The tutor can support individual needs.

What can I do next?

Any of our courses from the Early Years offer: Ready, Steady… Write!; Count and Play; Chat and Play and Happy Minds (how to build resilience for children in the Early Years). Focus on Phonics is also suitable for parents and carers of children aged 3 - 5 who are in nursery or reception class.

How well am I doing?

You will be provided with a simple progress record and you will receive verbal feedback from your tutor.
