About the course:
You will explore a well-known children’s story. Then have fun making resources with your child to create their own special story box to take home. If story boxes are new to you, you will be supported making one through every step. A story box is a box containing a variety of resources and activities relating to a particular story, all designed to bring the story to life. In your box, you could make a jigsaw, simple puppets or indeed anything that could be used to retell and enjoy the story with your young child. How will the course be delivered?
Learners can attend this one hour workshop, with, or without, their child aged between 3 and 5.
What do I need to bring?
Resources and materials will be provided. You may like to bring in your own bits and bobs from home e.g. fabric scraps, buttons etc., including your own mini sewing kit, if you have one.
What are the entry requirements?
This course is for parents and carers of children aged between 3 and 5. You do not need any prior qualifications but you will need to be able to speak and understand basic English. The tutor can support individual needs.
What can I do next?
Any of our courses from the Early Years offer: Ready, Steady… Write!; Count and Play; Chat and Play and Happy Minds (how to build resilience for children in the Early Years). Focus on Phonics is also suitable for parents and carers of children aged 3 - 5 who are in nursery or reception class.
How well am I doing?
You will be provided with a simple progress record and you will receive verbal feedback from your tutor.
