About the course

This short course will introduce you to the basics of food safety at home and in a working environment.You will learn about common hazards, food hygiene and safe working practices. It is ideal for those wanting to start employment in the hospitality and catering sector who wish to progress to the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

How the course will be delivered

The course will be delivered by one of our specialist employability tutors. You will be taught in one of our centres or in our virtual classroom (via Zoom). During the course you will complete a range of activities. These will often include discussions, group and pair work, written work, Q&A and worksheets. Your tutor will ensure that the lessons are engaging, interactive and supportive.

What you'll need to bring

Face-to-face You must bring your own pen to each session. If you wear glasses don't forget to bring those too. Online You will need access to a computer or tablet and the internet for each session. You may want to use headphones with a microphone"

Next steps

You can progress to the Award in Food Safety in Catering Level 2 or to a range of other employability courses and qualifications. You may also choose to progress to an English, maths or IT course.
