About the course:

During this course, you will further develop your knowledge of painting techniques and colour theory. You will analyse the work of traditional and contemporary artists on themes that interest and inspire you. By looking at a range interesting compositions and art movements, you will aim to broaden the scope of your own practice and push your work in interesting ways, creating more competent and complex watercolours.

How will the course be delivered?

Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, discussions and regular support and encouragement.

What do I need to bring?

A set of watercolour materials including an A4 or larger sketchbook of watercolour paper, a small set of your preferred watercolours, a pencil, masking tape, a water container, mixing palette or plate, a board to tape your paper on, kitchen towel, a range of brushes and other materials you like to use. Other materials will be provided for you to experiment with.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal entry requirements. However, it is a course for more experienced watercolourists or learners who have attended previous improvers or intermediate watercolour courses.

How well am I doing?

Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
