About the course:
You will analyse a range of art, including your own watercolour paintings, and aim to make informed judgements about the work. At the start, your will use a structured format to help you learn how to evaluate artwork in a constructive way. Doing this will develop your critical thinking, allowing you to critic art in a constructive way, rather than just providing a simple opinion based on likes or dislikes. By doing this, it is hoped that you will think carefully about your own compositions and push your work further in terms of skill and meaning.How will the course be delivered?
Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, discussions and regular support and encouragement.
What do I need to bring?
A set of watercolour materials including an A4 or larger sketchbook of watercolour paper, a small set of your preferred watercolours, a pencil, masking tape, a water container, mixing palette or plate, a board to tape your paper on, kitchen towel, a range of brushes and other materials you like to use. Other materials will be provided for you to experiment with.
What are the entry requirements?
No formal entry requirements. However, it is a course for more experienced watercolourists or learners who have attended previous improvers or intermediate watercolour courses.

How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
