About the course:
This course is for learners who already paint using watercolour and would like to develop their work further through the use of a sketchbook. A sketchbook is not only for direct observation but should allow for exploration, practice and experimentation and the working through of ideas before tackling a painting. Through suggested exercises and ideas, and the study of existing sketchbooks by other artists, you will develop your skills and compositions by working on a chosen idea or theme of your choice.
How will the course be delivered?
Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, discussions and regular support and encouragement.
What do I need to bring?
A set of watercolour materials including an A4 or larger sketchbook of watercolour paper, a small set of your preferred watercolours, a pencil, masking tape, a water container, mixing palette or plate, a board to tape your paper on, kitchen towel, a range of brushes and other materials you like to use. Other materials will be provided for you to experiment with.
What are the entry requirements?
No formal entry requirements. However, it is a course for more experienced watercolourists or learners who have attended previous improvers or intermediate watercolour courses.

Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
