About the course:
You will learn to create gathers and pleats. This course develops your skills and confidence with using your sewing machine, to create samples of gathers and pleats that you can apply to other sewing projects as you build your confidence.How will the course be delivered?
This course is face to face, a practical series of workshops guided by our textile tutor. This course will be delivered by our highly experienced textiles tutor Claire Trelfa, the Community Learning and Skills tutor for Textiles. Claire has 20 years’ experience in teaching fashion and textiles and is a textile creative practitioner.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your sewing machine, thread to sew with, and scissors. Please bring fabric for sewing samples of techniques - this can be old textiles such as clothing or duvet cover/pillow cases. A small plain paper journal or sketch book to notetake.
What are the entry requirements?
You will already have a basic understanding of sewing with your sewing machine. This course improves your technical skills.
What can I do next?
You can complete a further sustainable textiles course focusing on mending and altering clothes. You could also progress to a pattern or sewing machine course with Adult Learning.
How well am I doing?
Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the lessons and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record along with your creative examples you have done. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you to achieve your goals.
