About the course
This course is designed for learners with some existing experience of watercolour who wish to extend their skills through the theme of landscape painting. Working with natural and built landscapes as inspiration, you will develop greater confidence in using watercolour to convey depth, light, and atmosphere. Throughout the course, you will explore key techniques including wet-in-wet, dry brush, layering, and glazing, alongside colour mixing and tonal control. Weekly sessions will focus on different elements of landscape painting such as skies, landforms, trees, pathways, and foreground interest, as well as composition and simplification of complex scenes. Demonstrations and guided exercises will support learning, with opportunities to work from photographs or personal reference material. The emphasis is on developing a more expressive and personal approach. Learners will be encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and reflect on their progress in a supportive and relaxed environment.
