About the course

Do you want to feel more confident using English? Open up further opportunities in learning and employment? This course builds on Functional Skills English level 1, if you already have it, and is widely recognised by employers. You will develop formal and informal writing skills, including how to write letters, emails, reviews and blogs using correct punctuation and grammar. You will develop your reading skills by comparing texts and learn how to gain more understanding. You will also build your confidence in speaking and listening, as you are supported to give a short presentation, identify relevant questions and discuss interesting topics.

How the course will be delivered

You will learn with a tutor and a small group in the classroom or online. Lessons will include whole-class, group and individual activities. You will need to attend regularly and complete some homework.

We will support you to complete an initial assessment to help you find the right level of study. You may already have a Functional Skills level 1 qualification.
