About the course:

By the end of the course you will be better able to: Follow instructions, make relevant contributions to discussions, express simple views clearly, follow the gist of simple verbal communication, obtain necessary information from simple verbal communication for a given task to allow you to achieve a qualification. Your confidence levels will have improved and, hopefully, you will feel inspired to continue your studies.

How will the course be delivered?

Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles to ensure you achieve your full potential. This course will be taught in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, where your individual needs are catered for. Teaching, learning and assessment are carried out through formally taught sessions, discussion, and group work, supported with worksheets, role-play, activity cards, games, practise papers, homework, evaluation and feedback. You must be able to complete work outside of class time and access to a laptop or tablet would be useful.

What do I need to bring?

Pen, Notebook and Folder

What are the entry requirements?

No previous formal qualifications are required for entry to these qualifications at Entry Level 1. Before you can enrol, you will need to have an initial assessment to make sure the course is suitable for you. You can contact your centre to arrange for this to take place. If you already study with us, your current tutor can help you. Please make sure you can attend classes regularly, every class if you can, because this gives you the best chance of succeeding and improving your English skills.

What can I do next?

This course will get you on the next step towards ESOL L2 Skills for Life qualifications. This suite of qualifications is available at Entry levels 1, 2, 3 and Level 1 and 2. Learners may progress through the levels from their starting point.

How well am I doing?

You will receive regular written and spoken feedback from the tutor to support your learning journey and work with your tutor to develop an individual progress record. You will be supported to set targets so you can keep track of your achievements. Formal assessments on each unit of study are provided by the awarding body; these are then scheduled according to need. They are marked by the tutor and graded pass or fail. The results are then verified by an internal quality assurer and an external verifier.

Additional transferable skills:

You will improve your teamworking skills by working with your peers. You will also develop your problem solving and independent study skills.
