About the course

Take part in a short writing project exploring a variety of creative themes, while discovering how writing can support your wellbeing. You’ll learn different methods and techniques to help you express yourself, choosing from topics such as: ghost stories, the hero’s journey, writing from an image, the seasons, local legends, setting the scene, creating characters, and travel writing.

How the course will be delivered

You will learn with a tutor and a small group in the classroom. Lessons will include whole-class, group and individual activities. You will need to attend regularly. There may be optional home-learning activities.

Pen, notebook and folder.

Entry requirements

An interest in creative writing as a way of improving wellbeing. A minimum of Functional Skills Level 1 in English.

An English qualification, depending on your journey so far. Courses from other areas: maths, digital, employability, family learning, arts and crafts, health and wellbeing, ESOL, modern foreign languages or greener.
