About the course:
Unit 1 summary:
In this unit learners will begin with an introduction to the concepts of health and wellbeing, including the effects of exercise and eating well and how technology can affect health and wellbeing. They will then look at other factors that can affect health and wellbeing including a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, mental health issues and alcohol. They will look at the barriers to a healthy lifestyle before looking at human anatomy and its systems in more detail.
Unit 2 summary:
In this unit learners will begin to look at the specific dietary requirements for exercise and how food choices affect performance. They will learn about different energy systems in relation to food intake and fluid replacement for exercise.
Unit 3 summary:
In the final unit learners will cover how to exercise safely, including stretching and cooling down and how to check balance and posture. They will then learn how to measure fitness levels including heart rate, BMI and blood pressure, before covering how to set goals and use different training methods. Finally they will look at how to evaluate personal programmes for exercise and nutrition.
