About the course

This course is an introduction to using watercolour paints. On this course you will be introduced to the basics of watercolour painting. No prior experience is necessary. A combination of simple painting exercises and experimentation with the paints and techniques. The sessions will cover colour mixing, brush strokes, techniques such as wet-in-wet, dry brush, layering of colour, creating tone and texture. We will touch upon the various watercolour equipment too. Working from observing natural forms such as fruit, vegetables, flowers, leaves and shells, you will learn basic techniques and skills. There will be a focus on experimenting and enjoying the capabilities of watercolours rather than detailed accuracy or producing finished or perfect results. Working at a gentle pace, demonstrations will help guide and encourage you to find your own pace, confidence and style. The overall emphasis is on being creative in a relaxed and informal environment while learning new skills.
