About the course:
This course will introduce you to a range of textile arts and will build your confidence in using various techniques to produce a series of small samples along with a final mini project. You’ll explore different stitch techniques, textiles and ways of using these to create your textile art. We will explore how stitching can be used to create pattern and texture, different textiles as a base and medium along with mixed media to challenge your creativity. We’ll learn how different textile artists have used their chosen media to create exciting results and how textiles can be seen as beautiful and innovative pieces of art.How will the course be delivered?
This practical course will be delivered in person by practising artist Wendy Kirwood. Wendy actively produces and exhibits her work in Cumbria and around the UK. She primarily paints using acrylics on wood panel, however, has used various media and mixed media to produce her work. Wendy will encourage you to try many various techniques and have fun while experimenting with different media to build your confidence as an artist. She’ll introduce you to the work of various textile artists to help inspire you along your way.
