About the course

This course is an accessible introduction to watercolour painting, using natural forms as a starting point for learning core techniques and skills. Learners will explore simple natural subjects such as leaves, flowers, seed heads, shells, and organic textures, focusing on observation rather than detailed accuracy. Throughout the course, you will be introduced to essential watercolour techniques including wet-in-wet, dry brush, basic colour mixing, and simple layering. Sessions will also cover how to control water and pigment, create light and dark areas, and suggest texture and form using expressive brushwork. Guided exercises and demonstrations will support learning at a comfortable pace. No prior experience is needed, and the emphasis is on enjoyment, experimentation, and developing confidence rather than producing finished or perfect results. Group discussion and gentle reflection are encouraged to help learners recognise progress and develop visual awareness.
