About the course
During the course, will experiment with different water-colour techniques (washes, layering, sea salt, cling-film, wet-in-wet, wax resist, scraping, granulation fluid etc…) and with step-by-step instructions learners will be shown how these can be used to develop textures and atmosphere in paintings. You will be introduced to a range of artists who use these techniques well. With guidance and further demonstrations, you will then use some of the skills and techniques taught to create your own dramatic paintings.
How the course will be delivered
Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, discussions and regular support and encouragement.
What you'll need to bring
A set of watercolour materials including an A4 or larger sketchbook of watercolour paper, a small set of your preferred watercolours, a pencil, masking tape, a water container, mixing palette or plate, a board to tape your paper on, kitchen towel, a range of brushes and other materials you like to use. Other materials will be provided for you to experiment with.
Entry requirements
No formal entry requirements. It is a beginners course for learners who want to learn the basics and have a willingness to experiment.
