About the course
Each week will start with warm-up exercises to revise and develop different water-colour techniques (washes, layering, sea salt, cling-film, wet-in-wet, wax resist, scraping, granulation fluid etc…) and with step-by-step instructions, learners will be shown how these can be used in paintings on a range of themes : landscapes, seascapes, trees, animals, flowers and still life. You will be introduced to a wider range of artists who use these techniques well and learn how to compose a successful composition. Later in the course, with guidance and further demonstrations, you will then use some of the techniques to create your own watercolour compositions.

Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, discussions and regular support and encouragement.
What you'll need to bring
A set of watercolour materials including an A4 or larger sketchbook of watercolour paper, a small set of your preferred watercolours, a pencil, masking tape, a water container, mixing palette or plate, a board to tape your paper on, kitchen towel, a range of brushes and other materials you like to use. Other materials will be provided for you to experiment with.
Entry requirements
No formal entry requirements. It is a beginners course for learners who want to learn the basics and have a willingness to experiment.
