About the course:
Develop your observational drawing skills through hands-on practice with still life compositions. Learn techniques for accurate observation, proportion, shading, and texture to create realistic artwork. This course emphasises creativity, precision, and the fundamentals of translating three-dimensional objects into successful two-dimensional sketches and drawings. Throughout the course, you'll be encouraged to experiment with a range of different drawing media.
How will the course be delivered?
Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, examples, discussions and regular support and encouragement.
What do I need to bring?
Basic sketching and drawing materials: A4 or/and A3 cartridge paper or a sketch book, a range of drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B and 6B), eraser, pencil sharpener, piece of charcoal. Each week, depending on the focus, further materials will be provided for you to also try and experiment with. However, feel free to bring along any other materials you may have which you think may be useful.
What are the entry requirements?
No formal entry requirements. The course is perfect for people who have some basic knowledge of drawing but would like to experiment and learn about a wider range of materials and techniques.

Your tutor will tell you how you are doing in the sessions and your progress will be recorded in your Individual Progress Record. You will work with your tutor to identify any particular areas that you want to improve and your tutor will support you achieve your goals.
