About the course

Surface & Texture is a beginner-friendly drawing and painting course that focuses on observational drawing as a starting point for exploring the surfaces and textures around us. You will learn how to look closely at objects and materials, using line, tone, mark-making, and paint to capture their visual and tactile qualities. Through guided exercises and supported practice, you will develop basic observational skills alongside simple drawing and painting techniques. The course encourages experimentation and curiosity, helping you translate what you see into expressive artwork while building creative confidence. No prior experience is needed, and sessions take place in a relaxed, supportive environment suitable for those new to art or returning after a break.
