About the course:

This course is for learners who already enjoy drawing and would like to develop their work further by revising basic drawing techniques (mark-making, tonal values, line, shape and form). Through suggested exercises and ideas, you will develop your skills by working on a chosen idea or theme. You will experiment with different techniques and colour palettes to produce a series of linked pieces. For example, your chosen theme could be trees with the aim to produce a series of drawings of the same tree during different seasons or you might prefer animals, and create a series of animal drawings.

How will the course be delivered?

Through detailed step-by-step demonstrations, examples, discussions and regular support and encouragement.

What do I need to bring?

Basic sketching and drawing materials: A4 or/and A3 cartridge paper or a sketch book, a range of drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B and 6B), eraser, pencil sharpener, piece of charcoal. Each week, depending on the focus, further materials will be provided for you to also try and experiment with. However, feel free to bring along any other materials you may have which you think may be useful.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal entry requirements. The course is perfect for people who have some basic knowledge of drawing but would like to experiment and learn about a wider range of materials and techniques.
